Relay segregation is Mastodon with extra steps. If you're relying on "some mod" to access social media it's basically the same thing.
And I'm not even saying I think Mastodon is necessarily bad or anything... heck they've got 500k DAU's and are far more decentralized than either Bluesky in practice or X in reality...
