There are many systems in place that encourage against, if not prevent our free thinking. The Skinner box corrals its inhabitors to "freely" make choices.
Though the box operator creates the choices, frames the problem, and nudges our actions, we still think:
we've discovered the problem
we've identified the choices
And that we've acted in our best interests.
That's by design.
