It is like a large flat blade screwdriver. If you are only using it to turn screws you are missing out. Doesn't matter what they designed it to do, use it in the way that serves you.
Then Milwaukee comes along and designs a version of a large flat-head screwdriver around the other uses instead of screws. I bought for myself and as gifts for others, more than I ever bought those designed around the manufacturers intended use of turning screws. The better product is outselling the one that tries to tell you how to use it.
In the same way Luddites wanted to ban or control every technology before, especially those that educate people. It isn't the fault of books that some control freak took over a printing press and printed only knowledge they approved of. It doesn't change that the concept of the press is out there and that toothpaste will never go back in the tube. Others will run different presses and share different information.
How have I ceded my authority to AI by telling it what I know about Zen and how I've studied in the past and asking it for the right material for me to study next? Then I go an read the book with an idea where it fits into the broader knowledge base I already have, how is that ceding to AI? I also cross check multiple AI models against each other and I see for myself which ones best align with my knowledge from primary sources.
