I am an idiot and I know it. Embracing it gets me closer to solutions than insisting I become a real dev.
I was in a place where Python was the best solution for my problems when Ruby was at peak hype so I totally get where you are coming from from your side. Everyone insisted I needed to rewrite in Ruby to solve every problem even though I was in a controlled environment where Ruby wasn't installed and I couldn't install it. Explain my limits and it became clear the people down on Python couldn't write any Python at all.
I never learned C so Rust is just a way lower resistance path for adding the ability to solve problems too big for shell and the interpreted languages I do know. Not down on C. It is harder and I don't think I need the extra power that comes with that extra challenge as much as I need solutions now.
I do agree the cult is a bit deep which kept me from looking at it for a while. I appreciate your insight, glad it was the same social shit I was hesitant about before and not that I've been wasting my time because I'll find technical roadblocks later that keep me from making working simple projects.
